Biography
Flora Hyoin Kim is a graduating senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison finishing her BFA in dance. She is originally from Seoul, Korea and moved to Boston at the age of 14 to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer. As a performer she has worked with many faculty members including Kate Corby, Karen McShane-Hellenbrand, Marlene Skog, Chris Walker and Jin-Wen Yu as well as guest artists Germaul Barnes, Joe Goode, Danielle Russo and Guy Thorne. As a choreographer Flora’s trio piece “Dualities in Unison” was performed at the UW-Madison Student Concert in 2013. Flora's second solo work “I’mperfection” is being presented at the UW-Madison Margaret H'Doubler Concert in 2014. Additionally, her first solo “Break” was chosen to represent the UW-Madison in the informal concert of the American College Dance Festival Association at the north-central region in 2012. Flora had a strong classical ballet background before coming to the UW-Madison where she embodies various contemporary modern techniques. Since 2012, Flora has been a dance teacher at the Goodman Community Center as a member of the after school program, Performing Ourselves, which had provided her a new passion: to share the love and passion for dance through teaching.
